EU funding for Pečke-Slovenska Bistrica bicycle path

SLOVENIA, July 10 - The project includes constructing a 3-metre-wide, 2.87-kilometre-long bicycle path along the Pečke-Slovenska Bistrica local road; constructing a footbridge over the Ložnica stream; installing multi-level platforms to allow cyclists to cross the local road and to calm traffic; and installing street lighting.

Cohesion Fund contribution to the project, with a total value of €1,826,263.52, stands at €1,083,215.20. The beneficiary of the funds is the Municipality of Slovenska Bistrica.

This project builds on previous investments in safe and accessible cycling infrastructure. During the 2014-2020 programming period, under the Operational Programme for the Implementation of the EU Cohesion Policy, approximately €132 million in EU funding was invested in constructing more than 500 km of cycling routes. Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 makes more than €165 million in EU funding available for sustainable mobility. The programme finances a broad range of measures, including the construction and upgrading of cycling infrastructure, improvements to pedestrian areas, and the digitisation of mobility management, with the largest share of funding dedicated to cycling infrastructure.
